1. About us

The Cambridge University German Society is a student society at the University of Cambridge, The Old Schools, Trinity Lane, Cambridge CB2 1TN, United Kingdom. Questions about orders: [email protected]. Questions about membership: [email protected].

2. Orders and payment

• Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP). The Society is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged.
• Payment is made by card through Stripe. Your order is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email.
• Some tickets are only available to members, to winners of a ballot, or with a promo code. Codes are personal, can be used once unless stated otherwise, and may not be sold on.
• We may cancel an order and refund it in full if it was placed with a price error, by mistake, or in breach of these terms.

3. Tickets

• A ticket admits one person to the event shown on it. Please bring your ticket (on your phone or printed) and, where asked, proof of eligibility such as a University card or membership.
• Member and student tickets are only valid for the person entitled to them. We may refuse entry or charge the difference if a ticket is used by someone not entitled to it.
• Event times, programmes and line-ups may change. We will tell you about significant changes by email.

4. Cancellations and refunds

• Tickets are non-refundable, except as set out below.
• If we cancel an event, you will get a full refund. Refunds go to the original payment method.
• If you cannot attend, contact us before the event. Where the event is sold out and we can resell your place, we may refund you at our discretion.
• Because event tickets are for a specific date, the 14-day cancellation right for online purchases does not apply to them.

5. No transfers or resale

Tickets are personal and non-transferable. You may not sell, resell, swap or pass on a ticket to anyone else, including through resale websites or social media. We may cancel any ticket that has been transferred or resold in breach of this rule, without a refund, and refuse entry to anyone holding it.

6. At our events

• Please treat other guests, committee members, staff and venues with respect. We may refuse entry or ask anyone to leave whose behaviour is unsafe, discriminatory, harassing or otherwise inappropriate, without a refund.
• Some events have a minimum age (for example where alcohol is served); bring ID if asked.
• Venue rules apply in addition to these terms.
• We take photos and videos at many events. See our Privacy Policy for how we use them and how to opt out.

7. Membership

• Membership is open to all students at the University of Cambridge. The fee is paid once and the membership lasts for life.
• Membership gives access to member prices and member-only events where offered. Benefits may change over time.
• The membership fee is non-refundable.
• The committee may end a membership for serious misconduct at or around Society events.

8. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, if an event is cancelled or changed, our liability is limited to refunding the price you paid; we are not responsible for travel, accommodation or other costs. Please look after your belongings at events.

9. Changes and law

We may update these terms; the version shown when you buy applies to your purchase. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
